The Management Review Kit HandbookChapter 15 of 23

The annual review and extra reviews

The first review of the year does everything a quarterly review does, plus the items that only make sense once a year:

  • Whether the quality policy still fits the business, and the scope of the quality system.
  • The context and interested parties, reviewed in full rather than as changes.
  • The year's quality objectives, with targets, owners, resources and action plans (F10).
  • Resources for the year: staffing, equipment, training, from the capacity plan.
  • The risk register read in full, retiring what no longer applies (F13).
  • Any review items your customers require once a year.

Extra reviews are called by the chair within the time your standard sets when one of its written triggers occurs. Run them on the same tools with a shorter agenda: the event, its effect on the quality system, the decisions, the outputs.

A management aid, not certification or a registrar audit. Using it does not by itself show conformity to AS9100D or any other standard, and your customers' requirements may add to it.

Clause numbers refer to AS9100D (SAE AS9100 Rev D) unless another document is named. The standards' text is not reproduced here: use your own licensed copy.

Aegis Insights are our own guidance, labeled wherever they appear: how we approach this work, not a requirement of any standard or customer.
