The MRB and Nonconformance Kit HandbookChapter 13 of 26

When nonconforming product has already shipped

The moment you know or suspect that nonconforming product has been delivered, three things happen in the same hour: the escalation matrix (D15) is followed inside the plant, containment (B11) extends to the customer's stock and line, and the customer is told what you know and what you do not. The contract sets the form and the time; where it does not, tell them the same day. Notify any supplier whose product is involved. When the customer found it, use the escape investigation (B12) alongside the NCR, and the corrective action is not optional.

A management aid, not certification or a registrar audit. Using it does not by itself show conformity to AS9100D or any other standard, and your customers' requirements may add to it.

Clause numbers refer to AS9100D (SAE AS9100 Rev D) unless another document is named. The standards' text is not reproduced here: use your own licensed copy.
