Containment and Corrective Action Verification Checklist
Two checklists: one to confirm containment reached every suspect part, wherever it is, and one to confirm a corrective action is in place where the work is done and has worked, before anyone signs it closed.
Free to use, change and copy inside your own organization. Editable Word, plus a fillable PDF you can complete on screen.
The problem it solves
Containment gets called complete once the parts on the shop floor are sorted, while suspect product sits in finished goods, at an outside processor, in transit or on the customer's shelf. Corrective actions get closed when the record says the action is done, with nobody checking that the work instruction changed at the machine, the old copy came out of the binder, or the problem actually stopped. These two checklists make both decisions on evidence: every location named and checked, and every action seen in use and measured against the criterion set before it went in.
Who uses it, and when
Quality engineers and quality managers who sign containment complete or authorize a corrective action's closure; internal auditors sampling the corrective action process. Checklist 1 when containment is reported complete, and before you tell a customer it is. Checklist 2 before the closure signature on any corrective action, CAR or 8D.
