The Quality Performance Kit HandbookChapter 12 of 20

Corrective action health and audit readiness

Two systems decide, more than any others, how an audit or a customer review goes: corrective action and the everyday controls an auditor samples (findings, calibration, training, documents, supplier concerns). The kit watches both.

The CAPA aging dashboard (AQL-B09) counts open corrective actions by age, against their due dates, by stage and by owner, and puts closed beside shown effective. Read it weekly at the CAPA review and bring its summary to the monthly quality meeting. The dashboard (AQL-F08) carries two of its figures as headline measures: shown effective, and past due.

The audit readiness command center (AQL-A03) counts nine registers on one front page and turns every line that needs action into a 30/60/90-day plan. Read it weekly in thirty minutes with the line owners, and before every audit. Its value is in the habit: a shop that reads it every week does not need a three-week scramble before the registrar arrives.

A management aid, not certification or a registrar audit. Using it does not by itself show conformity to AS9100D or any other standard, and your customers' requirements may add to it.

Clause numbers refer to AS9100D (SAE AS9100 Rev D) unless another document is named. The standards' text is not reproduced here: use your own licensed copy.
