Counts in, measures out
Collect counts, never percentages: lines shipped and lines shipped on time, lots inspected and lots accepted first time, parts received and parts rejected. The dashboard (AQL-F08) works out every ratio and, over three or twelve months, adds the counts up before dividing. That is the only way a quarter's figure agrees with the quarter's records, and it is why the dashboard's three-month figures can be checked against the ERP by anyone.

Check before you read
The dashboard's record check catches a month out of order, a part larger than its whole and missing core counts. The NCR data's record check catches an NCR with no classification. Clear both before the numbers are read. Then do the human check: does any figure look wrong against what you know happened? A delivery figure that jumped four points in a month with no change on the floor usually means the report was run against the wrong date field.
