The IA9100 Transition Package GuideChapter 9 of 18

Taking it to management

IA9100 draft: based on the IAQG's published changes. IA9100 is not yet final, and the final text may change these topics and clause numbers.

The transition becomes a management review output when management makes a decision about it and the decision is minuted. Two tools carry it there.

  • The briefing (AQL-H07): ten minutes. What is published and what is not; the seven themes; where you stand; the plan in three bands and in windows; the three risks management can act on; and the decisions you need, each answerable yes, no or with a choice.
  • The scorecard (AQL-H10): the transition on one page, every quarter. Plain counts by theme, the share of applicable items shown, actions open, done and overdue, your own view of each theme (On track, Watch, Needs help) with what you need, a quarter-by-quarter line, and the decisions asked for.

Ask for hours, money and signatures, not support. Write each decision so it can be approved, rejected or chosen between, give it an owner and a date, and record the outcome and the minute reference on the scorecard's Decisions tab.

For your plant manager: one page

Fill this in and hand it over before the first briefing.

A management aid, not certification or a registrar audit. Using it does not by itself show conformity to AS9100D or any other standard, and your customers' requirements may add to it.

Clause numbers refer to AS9100D (SAE AS9100 Rev D) unless another document is named. The standards' text is not reproduced here: use your own licensed copy.
