Everything comes in through one door: NCRs, customer complaints and escapes, internal and external audit findings, supplier problems, and problems found by monitoring. Log each one on the intake tool (B02) and decide within a fixed time whether it needs a corrective action or a correction only.
| Open a corrective action when ... | A correction only is usually enough when ... |
|---|---|
| It reached a customer, or could affect product safety or a flight-critical characteristic | It is a one-off, found in-house, with an obvious and confirmed one-time cause |
| It has happened before, on this or a similar part, process or supplier | There is no history of the same failure mode |
| It points to a weakness in a process or the system, not just one part | It is contained to one lot and the process is otherwise sound |
| A customer or registrar requires one | Your trend review (B10) shows no pattern |
Set response times you can keep, and write them down. Starting points many shops use: containment within 24 hours of a customer escape; cause confirmed within 10 working days; action plan within 15; first verification at the end of the agreed window. Your customers' requirements come first where they set their own.

A management aid, not certification or a registrar audit. Using it does not by itself show conformity to AS9100D or any other standard, and your customers' requirements may add to it.
Clause numbers refer to AS9100D (SAE AS9100 Rev D) unless another document is named. The standards' text is not reproduced here: use your own licensed copy.
Aegis Insights are our own guidance, labeled wherever they appear: how we approach this work, not a requirement of any standard or customer.
