Resource Library/Aegis Quality Kits/Calibration Control Kit
Calibration Control Kit
Calibration, measurement risk and out-of-tolerance impact, with the gauge studies and capability tools behind them.
Start with the handbook: it sets out the workflow, who does what, the weekly rhythm, a 30-day setup plan and one worked example that runs through every tool below.
The kit, step by step
Each tool is free on its own page, with its own worked example from the same story.
- 1
Workbook · AQL-E01Calibration and Measurement Risk Register
More than a calibration log: track every instrument's due date and status, what it measures and how far a failure would reach, and run an out-of-tolerance impact assessment the day a calibration fails.
- 2
Workbook · AQL-E02Out-of-Tolerance Impact Assessment
When a calibration comes back out of tolerance: record the event, trace every lot the instrument measured since it was last known good, judge each reading against its limits with the error, decide, tell the customer where needed, and close with the evidence.
- 3
Workbook · AQL-E03MSA Planning Worksheet
Decide which measurement systems need a study, which study, who runs it and by when, then track the verdicts, the conditions and the re-study dates in one plan.
- 4
Workbook · AQL-E04Gage R&R Study Data Sheet
Run a gauge repeatability and reproducibility study by the average and range method: up to three operators, three trials and ten parts, with every result, the published constants and the verdict worked out for you.

The problem it solves
Calibration looks like the easiest part of a quality system: a list, a sticker, a certificate. It is also one of the most reliable sources of audit findings, because the list answers only one question (is it in date?) and the auditor asks three more: what did this instrument measure, what did you do when it failed, and how do you know it is good enough for that tolerance? This handbook is the operating manual for the Calibration Control Kit. It sets out one workflow from receiving an instrument to retiring it, who does what, which tool to use at each step, how to handle an out-of-tolerance result, when a gauge study is needed, the weekly and monthly rhythm, and how to set it all up in thirty days without buying new software.
Who uses it
Quality managers and calibration coordinators who own the measuring equipment system; quality engineers who run gauge studies and impact assessments; the general manager who sponsors it.
When
When calibration findings keep coming back; when an out-of-tolerance result has no product assessment; when a customer asks for gauge studies behind key characteristics; when you take over a quality system; or a quarter before a surveillance or recertification audit.
