Calibration and Measurement Risk Register
More than a calibration log: track every instrument's due date and status, what it measures and how far a failure would reach, and run an out-of-tolerance impact assessment the day a calibration fails.
Free to use, change and copy inside your own organization. Editable Excel, plus a fillable PDF you can complete on screen.
The problem it solves
Most calibration lists answer one question: is it in date? The finding that hurts comes from the next one. When an instrument comes back out of tolerance, an auditor asks which parts it measured since it was last known good and what you did about them. If the inspection records do not name the instrument, the trace stops there. This register links every instrument to what it measures, tracks status and due dates automatically, and carries an impact assessment that walks from the failed calibration to every lot in question, a decision and a name.
Who uses it, and when
Calibration coordinators, quality engineers and quality managers; inspectors who use the instruments. Set it up once from your current calibration list, update it when each certificate comes back, open an impact assessment the day an instrument is found out of tolerance, and review the Summary weekly.
