The problem it solves
Most shops apply the same oversight to every approved supplier: an audit every year or two, the same receiving sample, a scorecard nobody acts on. The high-risk special process source gets no more attention than the hardware distributor, a supplier set to reduced inspection years ago stays there after its record turns, and audits slip off the calendar without anyone deciding to drop them. This matrix sets each supplier's level of oversight from three facts you can explain (approval status, product risk, performance), turns the level into planned activities with due dates, logs what each activity found and what it changed, and lays the year out month by month so attainment is visible.
Who uses it
Supplier quality engineers and supplier quality managers, with purchasing and receiving inspection.
When
Build it from your approved supplier list once; set the year's schedule each January; update it after every audit, rejection, escape or change of approval status; review the Summary monthly.
