The problem it solves
An approved supplier list is supposed to be a control: purchasing buys only from it, and only what each supplier is approved for. In practice it is often a vendor table copied from the ERP, with 'Approved' against every name, no scope, certificate dates nobody watches, and a probation decision that never reached receiving. Then a buyer places a new part with a supplier assessed for something else, a certificate lapses mid-run, or a sub-tier heat treater nobody listed does your parts. This register keeps the scope, status, conditions, certificates, risk, performance and evaluation dates on one line per source, tells purchasing in plain words whether it may order, flags controls that don't match the status, and records every status change with the date each function was told.
Who uses it
Supplier quality engineers, who keep it; purchasing, who order from it; receiving inspection, who inspect to it; and the quality manager, who approves changes.
When
Build it once from your vendor table and approval records. Update it whenever a status, scope, certificate or rating changes; review it monthly; take the totals to management review.
Free to use, change and copy, in your own organization or with your clients; add your own logo, keep the Aegis credit. Part of: Supplier Performance and Recovery Kit. Clause references: 8.4.1, 8.4.2, 8.4.3 (numbers only; use your own licensed copy of the standard).
A management aid, not certification or a registrar audit. Using it does not by itself show conformity to AS9100D or any other standard.
