Special Process Supplier Control Matrix
Show that whoever performs each special process on your parts, including your suppliers' own sources, is qualified for that exact process: scope, specifications, customer approvals, expiry dates, certificates, performance and oversight on one line.
Free to use, change and copy inside your own organization. Editable Excel, plus a fillable PDF you can complete on screen.
The problem it solves
An approved supplier list records that a company was approved once. It does not show that the company doing your heat treatment, plating or penetrant inspection is accredited for that exact process, that the accreditation is still in date, that your customer has approved it where required, or that the sub-tier source your machining supplier uses is controlled at all. When a special process fails, it is your part. This matrix puts one line per supplier and process, including sub-tier sources, flags every gap in qualification, approval, certificates and oversight, and gives you a record that answers the central question for each source.
Who uses it, and when
Supplier quality engineers, special process owners, purchasing, and quality managers. Build it once from your approved list and a survey of your suppliers' special process sources; review it monthly, before placing work with a new source, and at every supplier review.
