Supplier Onboarding Checklist

Take a new supplier from 'we need a source' to a controlled first delivery: screening, the evidence to ask for, an evaluation matched to the risk, the approved list entry, the purchase order flow-down, and the first 90 days.

The problem it solves

New suppliers are usually added in a hurry: a part is late, a buyer finds a shop with capacity, a certificate is filed and the first order goes out. What gets missed is what causes trouble later: an approval scope that does not cover the process being bought, a customer who requires its own approval of the source, a purchase order that never flows down the drawing revision or the right of access, a first delivery accepted without a first article. This checklist puts the steps in order and makes each one a recorded decision, so a supplier reaches your approved list with a defined scope, the right evaluation for its risk, and controls in place before the first part ships.

Who uses it

Supplier quality engineers and buyers bringing on a new supplier or a new scope at an existing one, and the quality manager who signs the approval.

When

From the day someone proposes a new source until 90 days after its first delivery. Use it also when an approved supplier is asked to take on a new process, a new site or a new commodity.
