Supplier Change Notification Register
Log every change your suppliers make to site, process, source, material, people or ownership; check your purchase order and your customer's requirements; decide with a first article where needed; and verify the first lot made after the change.

The problem it solves
Supplier changes are where many escapes begin: a new tank line, a different heat treater, a cheaper material source, a move to a sister plant, a key inspector leaving. Some suppliers send a letter, some tell a buyer on the phone, and some say nothing until a part fails. The letters end up in someone's inbox, nobody checks whether the customer needs to approve the change, and the first lot made the new way is received like any other. This register gives every change one line and one path: notice, requirements, customer, first article, decision, first lot. It flags product made under an unapproved change and every change you found instead of being told.
Who uses it
Supplier quality engineers, with purchasing and the engineers who assess the changes.
When
Log a change the day you hear of it, however you heard. Review open changes at the weekly supplier meeting, and the Summary quarterly.
