Not every complaint is about a dimension. Late shipments, wrong or missing certificates, mixed lots, wrong labels, damaged packaging and broken promises of information reach the customer's dock and scorecard just as surely. They tend to be answered last because they feel minor, and they repeat because their causes sit in processes nobody treats as manufacturing: order entry, scheduling, the shipping desk, the certificate template.
| Complaint | Where we look first | Typical lasting actions |
|---|---|---|
| Late delivery | Promise date against lead time; schedule changes; supplier delays; capacity on the constraint | Promise dates set from real lead times; early warning to the customer when a date slips |
| Missing or wrong certificate | The certificate template, where the data comes from, who checks it before it ships | Certificate data pulled from the traveler, not typed; a release check at the dock |
| Mixed lot or wrong identification | Where parts from two lots meet: carts, bins, the packing bench | One lot per container and bench; label printed from the traveler |
| Packaging or handling damage | The packing instruction, the carrier, the packaging as received | Packing instruction by part family; dividers; carrier feedback |
| Information not provided as promised | Who promised what, and where it was recorded | Promises logged on the complaint line with dates |
