IA9100 draft: based on the IAQG's published changes; IA9100 is not yet final, and the final text may change these topics and clause numbers.
The problem it solves
Three sensible changes cross the desk on a Friday: a new plating line, a second-source fastener, a faster toolpath. Each gets a form, a signature and a date, and none of the forms asks whether the change can affect product safety, because the parts still meet the drawing. The IA9100 draft turns product safety from guidance into items a to g of 8.1.3. This workbook puts the work on four records a small shop already keeps: the change log, the hazard list behind the PFMEA, the training matrix and the customer's reporting rules.
Who uses it, and when
Quality managers and engineers, the engineer who approves process changes, and whoever signs MRB dispositions. On every change before it is approved; when a hazard is found by an escape or a PFMEA review; when a safety role changes hands; and at management review.
