Resource Library/Product Integrity and Aerospace Requirements/Configuration Management Register
Configuration Management Register
Every part at its released configuration (drawing, specifications, router, programs, inspection plan, key characteristics and FAI, each with its revision), how it got there, and checks at the machine that what is built matches what is released.

The problem it solves
Ask most small shops which revision of a part they are released to build and they can tell you. Ask which program revision, CMM program, inspection plan and specification revisions go with it, which lot was the first at that revision, and whether the program in the machine's control today is the released one, and the answers are in five places or nowhere. That gap is where 'made to superseded revision' NCRs come from. This register keeps each part's whole configuration on one line, records every change with its effectivity, and gives you a quick way to check jobs on the floor against it.
Who uses it
Document control, quality engineers and manufacturing engineers, and the quality manager who owns configuration management.
When
Set up a line for every active part. Update it the day a change is implemented, record the change in Status accounting, and check two or three jobs a week on the floor.
Free to use, change and copy, in your own organization or with your clients; add your own logo, keep the Aegis credit. Part of: Configuration and Change Control Kit. Clause references: 8.1.2 (with 8.5.2, 8.5.6, 7.5.3) (numbers only; use your own licensed copy of the standard).
