The problem it solves

Every shop has an NCR log. Few analyze it. The count goes into a monthly report, a bad month gets a corrective action and a good month gets ignored, and nobody notices that one shift, one operation or one supplier is quietly growing while the total stays flat. This workbook takes one line per NCR, classified the same way every time, and works out the monthly trend with c-chart limits, Paretos by defect type, cause and operation for the last three and twelve months, counts and cost by part, and repeats of the same defect on the same part within ninety days.

Who uses it

Quality managers and quality engineers who own the NCR process and report on it, and the MRB.

When

Classify each NCR when it is raised; read the Summary, the trend and the top Pareto lines at the monthly quality meeting; take the trend and the Paretos to management review as the product conformity input.
