Resource Library/Product Integrity and Aerospace Requirements/Key Characteristics Monitoring Register
Key Characteristics Monitoring Register
Every key characteristic with its limits, control method and reaction plan; every measured value; and capability worked out from the values, so you know which KCs are capable, which are not, and which have too little data to say.

The problem it solves
Key characteristics get a symbol on the drawing and a line in the control plan, and then they are measured like every other dimension: checked, marked OK, filed. Nobody can say from the records whether a KC is capable, drifting or out of control, until a part escapes. This register lists every KC with its limits, its control method and its reaction plan, collects every measured value, and works out the mean, standard deviation and Cpk from the values themselves, so each KC carries a status you can act on.
Who uses it
Quality engineers who own key characteristics, manufacturing engineers, inspectors and operators who measure them, and the managers who review capability.
When
Add a KC when a drawing, a customer or your PFMEA names one. Record values as they are measured, review the register weekly, and restart a KC's study after any change that touches it.
Free to use, change and copy, in your own organization or with your clients; add your own logo, keep the Aegis credit. Part of: FAI and Production Readiness Kit. Clause references: 8.1, 8.1.1, 8.5.1 (with 8.3.5; AS9103) (numbers only; use your own licensed copy of the standard).
A management aid, not certification or a registrar audit. Using it does not by itself show conformity to AS9100D or any other standard.
