The problem it solves
Production equipment, tooling and programs drift between the times anyone looks at them: a fixture's locating pins wear, a machine loses accuracy after a minor crash, a program is edited at the control, customer-owned tooling corrodes in a rack for two years. AS9100D expects equipment, tools and programs that control the product to be validated before use, maintained, and checked periodically in storage. Most shops have a maintenance calendar for machines and nothing for fixtures, customer tooling or programs, and no record connecting a breakdown to the parts made just before it. This register puts all of them in one place: validated or not, when they are due, how much use they have left, and what each repair meant for product.
Who uses it
Maintenance leads, toolroom and tooling coordinators, manufacturing engineers who release fixtures and programs, and the quality engineers who assess product impact.
When
Set it up once with every item; update it after every maintenance event, repair, modification or storage check; review the Summary at the weekly production meeting and before a production readiness review (AQL-D09).
Free to use, change and copy, in your own organization or with your clients; add your own logo, keep the Aegis credit. Clause references: 8.5.1.1; also 7.1.3, 8.5.1, 8.5.3, 8.5.6, 8.7 (numbers only; use your own licensed copy of the standard).
A management aid, not certification or a registrar audit. Using it does not by itself show conformity to AS9100D or any other standard.
