The problem it solves
A production part approval is a package of a dozen elements, owned by several people and due to the customer on a date someone agreed months ago. Without one list, the submission for a source change is forgotten until the customer asks, interim approvals run on with their open elements never closed, and warrants go unsigned on parts already approved. This log keeps every submission on one line with its open elements and its status, so the weekly meeting can see what is late, waiting or only provisionally approved.
Who uses it
Quality and manufacturing engineers who build the submissions; program managers who answer to the customer; quality managers who sign the warrant.
When
Add a line when a submission is asked for or triggered (new part, change, new source, lapse); update it weekly; review it before every customer review.
Free to use, change and copy, in your own organization or with your clients; add your own logo, keep the Aegis credit. Part of: FAI and Production Readiness Kit. Clause references: 8.3.4, 8.5.1, 8.6 (with AS9145) (numbers only; use your own licensed copy of the standard).
Ready for an Audit Defense Pack. Its Pack 24 PPAP tab repeats your records in the format the AeroAssure Audit Defense Pack reads, and fills in as you work: send the workbook as it is, with nothing to retype. The Audit Defense Pack Starter lists every file a pack reads.
A management aid, not certification or a registrar audit. Using it does not by itself show conformity to AS9100D or any other standard.
