Shelf-Life Material Control Register

Every lot of sealant, primer, adhesive and other shelf-life material, with its expiry, any approved extension and the opened-container limit worked into one use-by date, a status that flags what to pull today, and a log of the fridge and freezer readings that keep it good.

The problem it solves

Expired sealant in the fridge is one of the most common findings in an aerostructures shop, and one of the easiest to avoid. It happens because the expiry date is on a label nobody reads, the opened date is not written anywhere, an extension was applied without the re-test behind it, and the freezer warmed overnight with nobody logging the reading. This register works the manufacture date, shelf life, extension and opened-container limit into one use-by date per lot, flags what has expired or will within 30 days, and keeps the storage readings beside it.

Who uses it

Stores and receiving, who keep it; supervisors whose areas hold shelf-life material; quality engineers who approve extensions.

When

Add a line at receiving, update it at every issue, opening, quarantine and scrap, log storage readings every shift that uses the material, and read the Summary weekly.
