The problem it solves
A gap analysis is the first step toward certification, and a sensible check before recertification or after big changes. Most gap analysis templates either copy the standard's clause headings with a yes/no column, which tells you nothing about evidence, or bury the result in a score nobody can explain. This workbook asks one or more plain questions per clause, each with the evidence that would show it, so the answer is based on what you looked at. You choose the status (Conforms, Partial, Gap or N/A), write what you found, and turn every Partial and Gap into an action with an owner and a date. The Summary only counts: by status, by section and by action, with nothing weighted.
Who uses it
Quality managers and consultants preparing a shop for AS9100D certification, recertification or a transition, and internal auditors checking coverage of the standard.
When
Six months or more before a first certification audit; three to six months before recertification; after a merger, a new site or a new quality manager; and once a year as a check on the whole system.
Free to use, change and copy, in your own organization or with your clients; add your own logo, keep the Aegis credit. Clause references: 4 to 10 (every clause, by number) (numbers only; use your own licensed copy of the standard).
A management aid, not certification or a registrar audit. Using it does not by itself show conformity to AS9100D or any other standard.
