IA9100 draft: based on the IAQG's published changes; IA9100 is not yet final, and the final text may change these topics and clause numbers.
The problem it solves
The job is late, the regular distributor is out of stock, and a broker can ship tomorrow. Receiving checks the count, the part number and that a certificate is in the bag, and the parts go to the floor. Nothing in that story would catch a counterfeit. The IA9100 draft turns the counterfeit prevention items of 8.1.4 from guidance into requirements: trained people, an obsolescence watch, approved sources, traceability to the manufacturer, detection at receipt, a watch on outside reports, and a defined path for suspect parts. This workbook keeps all seven on six short registers.
Who uses it, and when
Supplier quality engineers, buyers, receiving inspectors and material control, with the quality manager who owns the counterfeit prevention process. When a supplier or source is added or reviewed; at every receipt of a Higher band item; on the obsolescence interval you set; at each review of outside alerts; the day a part becomes suspect; and when people join the four functions.
